Pennsylvania plays host to a wonderful array of festivals, carnivals, concerts, and fireworks extravaganzas! Grab the kids or your friends and head out for a holiday full of fun, food, and freedom.

1. Wawa Welcome America!, Philadelphia, PA

As one of the largest, free Fourth of July events in the entire country, Philadelphia’s tribute to our original rebels is not to be missed, even if it means a bit of a drive. Start with the Party on the Parkway, which celebrates American heritage, as well as the multitude of cultures and backgrounds currently inhabiting the City of Brotherly Love. Enjoy games, entertainment, arts & crafts, and even a zipline at this five-block extravaganza. When evening comes, settle in for an incredible concert, headlined by Jennifer Hudson. After the concert, prepare to be blown away by an exceptional pyrotechnics display, which features not only fireworks, but a moving soundtrack and even overlay of quotes about our beautiful independence.

2. Flashes of Freedom, Pittsburgh, PA

An all-day extravaganza hosted at Point State Park, Flashes of Freedom is a boisterous, bright celebration of American Independence. A completely free event, Flashes of Freedom will blow other Fourth Festivities away. Excite the kids with fun activities like crafts and face painting, presented by the Lionheart Event Group. The day features a flag raising ceremony, as well a flyover by the United States Air Force. Venture outside the Fort Pitt Museum for demonstrations, including 18th century reenactments. When dark falls, enjoy a choreographed, sound-tracked firework display to rival the best in the world.
