The Wheel Mill

6815 Hamilton Avenue

Opened in Spring of 2013, The Wheel Mill set out to create an all encompassing bike park in the city of Pittsburgh. We have made a commitment to sustainable design since driving the first nail. Nearly 75% of the park features are assembled from reclaimed lumber and materials. Massive tree slabs can be seen in abundance around The Wheel Mill, these beautiful pieces are a generous donation from Pittsburgh’s Urban Tree. Urban Tree specializes in removing downed trees in urban areas around the Greater Pittsburgh area and repurposing them into works of art, furniture and bike trails inside the park. We build with locally source high grade reclaimed wood and building materials when at all possible; keeping our carbon foot print small and environmental impact large.

It was my first time at the Mill. This is got to be a good go to place for anybody who loves biking, BMX, and skateboarding. It also has a handicap wheelchair friendly accessibility as well. So you can actually practice jumps in wheelchairs. The hands style wheelchairs of course. There are so many different types of places to jump and different courses to test your abilities and have fun. You can actually order Pizza Parma Pizza here as well while you are doing your thing with your bike. There's also this great area that has plenty of tables and would be a great room to rent out. Extremely rustic-style. A lot of wooden furniture and tables here make it a great picnic type scene that can be done indoors course. Would be a great great place to have a birthday party or an event. They also do lessons here for bikes $70 an hour. And you can rent a bike or bring your own. You can also rent helmets. They also have a bike shop they're so that you can get things that you need. To rent everything is a little pricey in my book. That's the only downfall. So you may want to bring your own bike and helmet.

affordable, creative fun place for adults and kids whom like to bike. restrooms, changing rooms, lockers, free parking along street and around the block, light snacks and beverages, many different routes and indoor bike trails. bring a friend or your kids to practice skills year round. Lots of other kids to learn from and watch too. *helmets required and they have safety pads + bikes for rent. Neat place for birthday parties!

I do not personally ride BMX but my boyfriend does and I took him here for his birthday and I must say what a very creative place to go to do that type of stuff! Very safe very organized easy to get around very fun even though I was not riding I know I'm not allowed I would have had to sign in but I did get on my boyfriend's by for a second and I did the little kids run LOL.. it's just is your thing then you will absolutely love it it is totally creative very unique all indoors you can ride all day if you want very very good place very reasonable prices as well for what you are getting. People that are not writing obviously come in for free but have to sign a waiver in case they get hurt as well. But it's not really all that busy during the time that children are in school. After that they don't stay for more than 2 hours and they have definitely a lot of jam sessions were a lot of pro riders come in and it's pretty packed at that time but it's worth it so I've heard from what I've seen just one time and the videos on YouTube that I have seen the events of it is definitely something to get excited about even if you do not ride BMX it is very exhilarating to watch!
