The American Civil War Wax Museum & Gettysburg Gift Center have been staples in the Gettysburg community for almost one half of a century!

After immigrating to the United States from Poland during World War II, C M Uberman, founding owner and operator had a vision. His vision became a reality when opening the doors to the public on Thursday, April 19, 1962. Originally operating as The National Civil War Wax Museum, the museum complex has undergone a transformation in an effort to enhance each visitor's experience.

The museum, containing more than 35 scenes and over 300 life-size wax figures, was and still is intended to give the visitor an understanding of the causes and consequences of the Civil War, as well as some familiarity with the leading personalities who shaped the conflict.

Since the museum's opening, more than 8 million visitors have passed through this Gettysburg landmark. Popular with school groups, and families alike, the museum remains the only attraction in Gettysburg to depict the events of the entire Civil War, as well as discuss the events of the Battle of Gettysburg and Lincoln's famous Gettysburg Address.

Enhancements are continuously made throughout the museum complex.
