Rothrock Challenge

The Rothrock Challenge is a 25k trail race in the heart of Rothrock State Forest. The course covers almost 4,000 feet of elevation gain through coniferous forests, blooming mountain laurel, lush rhododendron, groves of ferns, rocky climbs and descents, and multiple stream crossings. There is a little of everything packed into one amazing 16 mile adventure!

The course will have three aid stations stocked with fuel and drinks: at 5.2 miles, 9.4 miles, and 13.6 miles. The cut-off time is 7 1/2 hours, which is approximately at 26 min/mile pace–very doable even as a hike! The finish includes a bonus lake plunging option as well! All participants are invited to join us for a post-race party at the Tussey Mountain pavilion afterwards with a delicious buffet lunch and locally brewed beverages! This year's runners will score a first edition RTC tank top. You MUST be registered by April 14th in order to guarantee a shirt!!!

Back for 2024! We will again offer an 11.5 mile option for those who want to experience the beauty of rothrock without the cliffsanity of shingletown. Participants will run the first 7+ and last 5+ miles of the 25K course. The courses will also share aid stations. There will be a course marshal positioned at the location where the courses separate to avoid any confusion.
