Delaware Valley Science Fair
Science Fair projects encompass far more than building volcanoes or solar system models…
The students are involved in sophisticated research projects that focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) topics in 13 different categories, Team Projects, and (for 6th – 8th grades) Consumer Science.
Each year, 900 to 1,000 students in grades 6th through 12th from Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware make new discoveries that could change their lives forever as they participate in the Delaware Valley Science Fairs (DVSF). Scholarship and prize money are awarded to students winners. DVSF takes top high-school winners to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) competition in May to compete for more than $4 million in scholarships and awards. Top middle-school winners go on to the Thermo Fisher Junior Innovators Challenge (Math, Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering for Rising Stars) national competition.
Founded in 1949, The Delaware Valley Science Fairs, Inc., is a non-profit organization sponsored by area companies, foundations, universities, and individual donors. One of the oldest and largest Fairs in the country, DVSF embraces a philosophy is that students learn science by doing science. In the process, students learn how to think and develop critical problem-solving skills that they will need for careers, college, and citizenship. Our mission is to bring parents, teachers, and industry together to stimulate and nurture young people so that they can grow and develop into contributing members of the community by providing the scientific workforce needed for the future. We provide mentoring and teacher training to facilitate participation in this activity. DVSF is an Affiliated Fair for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
